Organic skincare practiced by India

In our last blog we talked about China, and this blog is dedicated to India. These Asian countries have a long history of using skincare solutions from nature and hence it is worth looking into it.

Let us see, what kind of plants and formulations they use, and for what kind of skin care solutions are used.

India is famous for its Traditional Ayurvedic medication. Ayurvedic comes from the word Ayurveda – Ayur = Life and Veda = Sacred Knowledge, so it means “Life Sacred Knowledge”.  In Ayurvedic medication, there are more than 5000 herbs to explore and Ayurveda suggests some herbal remedies that can help treat your skin according to the “doshas” ( means illness) of the body. The best part about Ayurveda remedies is that they do not harm your skin in any way and can be used regularly without having to worry about any side-effects.  There are many herbs that have essential anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that help keep your skin clean and acne-free. These herbs tend to open clogged pores in the skin and encourage the production of natural oils. A lot of skin care products claimed to be Ayurvedic but the truth is they aren’t.

Some ayurvedic herbs which are best suggested for skin cares are :

  1. Jasmine leaves (Chameli ke patte)

2. Sandalwood (Chandan)

3. Neema (Neemba)

4. Moringa leaves

5. Kesar (Saffron)

6. Aloe vera (Ghritkumari)
7. Turmeric
8. Holy Basil Leaves
9. Cucumber seeds
10. Kumkumadi oil

These Ayurvedic herbs are rich in antioxidant and powerful for anti-inflammation, anti microbe, and full of benefits for skin’s health.
